Adoration

Last week, I was in a worship service that lasted for about 3 hours. After about three or four songs, I started noticing a pattern about the songs we were singing. The lyrics almost all were focused on us a Christians, sons and daughters. We sang a lot about giving our struggles and trials to God, casting our care on Him, and declared who we were in the eyes of God. While these are all essential understandings to the faith, I felt my heart longing to simply declare and proclaim who God is. There is something so powerful when we ascribe Him worth and declare Him the King of our hearts and lives. I think it would be so cool to see a worship service set aside for simply the adoration of God. A time in which we set ourselves, our desires, our needs aside and fix our eyes on God and who exactly He is. I have noticed that a lot of Catholic Churches have Adoration services. While I am not Catholic, and have not been to one before, I wonder if that is truly what these services are- if, that's amazing!
