Outside Reading
Isaiah 61:10
“I will rejoice greatly in the LORD, My soul
will exult in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has
wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with a
garland, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.”
As I have been reading scripture outside
of class, I have been learning about the bridegroom and
his bride. The bridegroom is Jesus
and the bride is the church. As you can see from the verse
above, Jesus will be decked in
garland and the church will be adorned in jewels. Jesus loves his
bride, has waited for his bride,
has fasted for his bride (wine), has longed for his bride and has
prepared himself. The bride has
been preparing herself. She has been maturing and giving God the
glory while waiting until the
bridegroom feast. The bridegroom feast will occur when Jesus and
his people dwell together again. We
see this through Revelation 19: 7-10, which says,
“Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the
marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; it was
granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”—for the fine
linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. And
the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited
to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the
true words of God.”
This
passage excites me. This passage reminds me that God is a romantic. He has been
for all
times.
The church will be clothed in bright and pure linen. We should rejoice in the
waiting of our
King. We
should be preparing ourselves to be the queen.
