“I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me." -John 17:20-23

Unity within the body of Christ seems to be something that many people in the Church are talking about in this season. I am seeing a hunger and passion for interracial, intergenerational, and interdenominational unity spread across so many different groups of people. This particular passage is interesting as it makes a connection between unity and a revelation of God to man. When Jesus prays for all believers, He specifically prays that we would all be one just like Him and the Father are one. He desires for us to be in unity so that the world would have a revelation of Him as the son of God and as one with God. This is such a powerful message to understand as the Body of Christ! We need to bare with one another, love one another, and look past our differences so that we can embrace a beautiful relationship of unity. This unity within the Body of Christ will radiate and reflect the unity of the Trinity to the world around us, and will then bring knowledge of who Jesus is and a work of salvation in the lost.
