"In 1886, 251 college students attended a conference held by DL Moody in Mount Hermon, Massachusetts to what is now known as the Mount Hermon 100. 100 students dedicated their lives to be foreign missionaries, and it was the pioneering moment of the Student Volunteer Movement. Spanning into the mid 1900s, the SVM would send around 20,000 missionaries, believing in “the evangelization of the world in this generation”. The youth were captivated by His love and vision to preach the gospel to the world and plunged themselves into the field." -Devotional from the Collegiate Day of Prayer

I believe that although this task remains unfinished, that it is the mantle and responsibility that has been passed to my generation. I see a fresh and exciting hunger in so many college students to follow the Great Commission into every sphere of society-including the unreached people of the earth. It is interesting to see how God breathes into different generations in different seasons. I wonder if another Student Volunteer Missions Movement will come from my generation? I pray that God's love would compel us to lay down everything for Him. I want to see the Great Commissions fulfilled and to see Him return!
