Upside Down Kingdom

"For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?" - Matthew 16:24-26

Matthew 16:24-26 provides a perfect explanation of the confusing upside down Kingdom of God. By upside down, I mean in relation to the kingdom of man that we have created for ourselves. The reality that we must come to know is that our lives as we know them are not meant for purpose of being glorified. Rather, our lives are purposed to glorify God- a greater purpose. Therefore, our striving for worldly merit, recognition, and praise is meaningless when we submit to the authority of a higher Kingdom. In our glorifying the Lord, we should lose our lives and lay them aside for the sake of His name and His purposes. Our soul will remain eternal, and live forever in the presence of God. Therefore, this life is not about collecting rewards on this earth but rather storing up our treasures in heaven.
