From Nature to Creation 3: Class Reading

Wirzba argues that giving thanks helps us perceive and engage the world in a new way. He mentions that in the history of humanity, the world has been filled with a lack of love and concern for God’s creations. He says that “people readily perceive themselves as little more than anonymous pieces within a profit-generating machine” (Wirzba 153). Is it possible for us to experience this world in communion with God? Wirzba emphasizes that it is important to remember that God did not create everything randomly or out of an accident. We should carry the viewpoint that “Knowing God transforms our understanding of live, because now we see that this life and this world are saturated by God’s love and delight” (Wirzba 154). We can experience this world in communion with God in admiring every created thing.
