In-Class #2
EARTH
JAZZ (CH. 21-23 -> Ecology Of Eden)
I loved Eisenburg’s idea of “Earth Jazz”. I think it’s a succinct
way of giving a good analogy as to our relationship with the Earth. People who
play in the Jazz tradition have their own way of playing and they are talented
in how they play, but they also must learn to adapt and be flexible and flow
with the spontaneity. It is not a rigid system and if they try and be rigid the
whole thing falls apart. I think that we, as humans, need to learn from this
and not be as rigid, but learn that we have to adapt and move with the rhythm
that we have created. We will never go back to what something once was, but we
can move forward to something greater.
