NO EXCUSE
Romans 1:18-20 (emphasis added)
“The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”
This passage in the New Testament in the Apostle’s letter to the church of Rome is one of the saddest, but also one of the most intriguing passages in the epistles of the Apostles. In this passage, Paul says that all of Creation testifies to God’s power and nature. Creation testifies that the Father is who He says He is. A lot of people like to divide this into natural vs special revelation, but I like to simply read the text and let it speak for itself. I think that the true connection between ecology and God can be found in this: His invisible qualities, that which is unseen, is testified by that which is seen. The testimony of two witnesses is true. While there are Three that testify of Eachother and these Three are One, Creation testifies that the One is who He says He is. The Creation is the second testimony to God’s claim of His own existence and that is beautiful to me. You cannot separate the painting from the painter, nor the sculpture from the sculptor. Creation is His painting and it screams the qualities of its divine Painter.
