THE FOLLY OF MANAGERS AND FETISHERS

In class, we have been talking about Managers vs. Fetishers and the differences between the two schools of thought. I think it’s interesting to note how these two views make the same error in reasoning that a lot of opposing viewpoints do. They are both so horribly extreme and unrealistic. Managers seem to have an odd view that we can control nature the same way we control our children, but this view will give way to nature destroying you. Humans cannot harness the power nor control the power of things like tornadoes or hurricanes and to try and do so would be foolish. Fetishers, on the other hand, think that we have to go back to living a life in Eden. This stand is extreme and naïve and something that will never happen. Both views have good things that the other can take away from, but holding to a viewpoint that has no practical application is worthless.
