In-Class #4
THE
MOUNTAIN VS. THE TOWER
I think that the Mountain is a place where you work for what
you want. When someone climbs a Mountain, they have to work for it. It isn’t
easy, automated, or automatic it’s something that you toil for. The Tower is
something that you can easily “climb”. It doesn’t have to be hard and you don’t
have to work for it. I think that this is the appeal of living a life of the
“Mountain” instead of a life of the “Tower”. The life of the Mountain means
that you have to work, toil, struggle, and labor for what you want. You sow
with tears, but when the harvest comes you reap with shouts of joy. The toil
gives way to joy because you know that everything you did was your own work and
therefore it gives you joy to see the finished work. When you live a life of
the Tower, the excitement of your hard work is no longer there because it is
not you doing the work.
