Outside reading #4 - The Jesus Movement

The Jesus Movement was and is still a huge movement within the United States.  It is a Christian movement associating with the Pentecostal sect.  Some of the Jesus Movement groups have become churches and others have formed into groups like the Children of God.  Most of the groups have fundamentalist beliefs which some groups like the Children of God have taken out of context.  They believe that sex is a way to "love" one another and it can be a way to share the Gospel.  This is very, very inaccurate if you actually know what the Bible says though.  Sex is to be between a male and female after marriage and the Bible makes it clear as to why it is this way.  These movements were quick to be viewed as cult-like because of the behavior attached to them.  The Jesus Movement still believe to have the fundamentalist approach although it is a big stretch.  They have taken some of what the Bible says out of context which can be extremely dangerous.
