Chance the Rapper - Student Choice #1

Chance the Rapper is an extremely talented and young artist who has not signed with a record label which is one of the reasons he is so famous.  His song, Blessings, alludes to the Bible and how he worships God.  In the chorus of the song, "I'm gon' praise him, praise him 'til I'm gone", Chance the Rapper refers to how he worships God and will give him the credit for his recent blessings in his life.  He is referring to 1 Chronicles 16:9 when he sings this line of the chorus which says, "Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts".  Unfortunately, this sounds a little like prosperity gospel.  I do not know his heart but it sounds like Chance could be singing about how when he praises God, God then blesses him.  This is not sound with the Bible because there are many instances where we see that people do not deserve blessings from God, but are gifted to us by grace.  However, just because you praise God does not mean that your life will be grand and full of blessings.
