Urban Animal - In class Reading #3

Urbanization is something that can be a bad thing for humans but also a place that makes sense to live.  Chapter 27 talks about how the human being is becoming more and more inclined to live in a city.  However, the only way that humans should live in a city is if all of their basic needs are met so that they can live.  If they cannot get clean water, food, or shelter then there should not be that many people in the city.  Human beings are preadapted to city life though so the ability to live in cities makes sense to us.  We are social animals so the number of people living in close quarters is understandable.  We like to go from place to place and not remain stagnant so a city is great for that because we are constantly going to different parts, whether for work, home, or to the store.  Humans are also foragers and so we go to the grocery store to get food instead of storing food away until next year like animals do. Our ability to live together creates this urban animal within us all.
