The Mountain- In class Reading #4

We have talked about The Mountain in class a lot from our book on Eden.  To me, The Mountain is bigger and more authentic than the Tower.  The Mountain is an experience true to nature because of a multitude of reasons.  First, you have to climb a mountain.  It takes a lot of work in order to get up to the top.  There are obstacles a person faces along the way including fatigue, dehydration, steep paths, etc.  There are so many reasons to stop a person from actually getting to the top of a mountain.  However, if someone overcomes all of the obstacles facing them than the summit becomes a real blessing.  The view looking out over the land is worth the hours you put in getting to the top.  A tower does not have such a glorifying process.  You can take an elevator to the top and be there within seconds.  There is still a view but it is of the concrete jungle as opposed to the vast array of nature when looking from a mountain.  I had a wonderful experience in Hawaii when I climbed a tough mountain to get to the top.  It was steep and I did not have enough water.  My friends took a break because of the difficulty but I just wanted to rest at the top so I continued on.  After a long time, I finally reached the top drenched in sweat.  I looked out over what I had just climbed and was amazed at how beautful God's creation was.  The wonderful yet challenging work was worth the hike and the reward was sweeter than when my lips touched my water bottle.
